Professional learning for enhancing educators’ strategies and skills for the support of students who may learn differently, and/or are diverse with respect to race, ethnicity, culture, economic status, language, gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation

CRE#1: Culture and Culturally Responsive Education
What is Culture and what relevance does it play in schools aiming for Equity? Practitioners will develop a common language around Culturally Responsive Education and begin the process of recognizing institutional and organizational structures in schools that perpetuate inequities.

CRE#2: Multiple Dimensions of Identity: How Does Identity Impact Student Achievement?
Practitioners start the journey of examining their identifies to develop a healthy sense of identity in order for them to abandon individual racism, and recognize and oppose institutional and cultural racism.
Practitioners will examine how your racial and/or ethnic identity impacts racially and ethnically diverse students in your classroom, and why these theories are important to understand for student achievement.

Participants will bring preconceived notions to the surface and understand how that knowledge impacts beliefs, practices and policies.

Participants will examine how an equity lens is essential for understanding the social-emotional development of children, youth, and adults. SEL can promote educational equity by helping all young people reach their fullest potential.

CRE#5: Recognizing Microaggressions and the Messages They Send
Practitioners will understand that the first step in addressing microaggressions is to recognize when a microaggression has occurred and what message it may be sending. The context of the relationship and the situation is critical.
